This class focuses on teaching your dog how to use their nose to follow scents both with and without distractions. The class is limited to 6 dogs. Nose work allows dogs to use their primary sense and helps teach persistence and independence. It’s an excellent enrichment activity for building confidence and resiliency. Nose work has been shown to lower heart rates and produce a sense of calm. This training can strengthen the dog/guardian bond and is fun for both involved. This class is appropriate for dogs of all ages. Your dog will be asked to settle in a crate between search rounds. Reactive dogs are welcome but no dogs with a bite history.

Did You Know Puppies Need Socialization?
Puppies go through a critical socialization period between 8 to 16 weeks of age. During this time, their experiences play a major role in shaping how they respond to new people, places, other dogs, and unfamiliar situations as adults. That’s why it’s essential to expose your puppy to a wide variety of sights, sounds, smells, and experiences — all in a safe, controlled, and positive way.
Our puppy socialization groups are designed to help you and your puppy build confidence and prepare for a lifetime of positive interactions.
What to Expect in Our Puppy Socialization Class
Our goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where puppies can learn from each other. The class encourages interaction between puppies rather than between puppies and people — so we kindly ask owners to minimize direct contact with puppies other than their own. This allows your puppy to focus on peer-to-peer social skills.
Our experienced trainers will guide the session, helping your puppy learn respectful play and teaching you how to recognize normal, appropriate puppy behavior.
Important Notes About Class Behavior
Sometimes puppies may act unpredictably or in ways that could pose a risk to themselves or others. Your trainer is always focused on maintaining a safe, structured environment. If needed, we may manage a puppy’s interaction by temporarily leashing or separating them behind a gate to help them feel more comfortable and teach appropriate social behavior.
With time, consistency, and expert guidance, most puppies learn how to interact safely and positively with others.

The Benefits of Training

In classes aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you’ll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including housetraining, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC® Canine Good Citizen® Program.
How It Works
